Service oriented architecture

An applications integration conundrum solved

Under the EMC2 SST Programme our customer, a global financial organisation, wanted to develop a loosely coupled Service Oriented Architecture to enable Siebel (and other applications) to access unstructured documents from Documentum for delivery to end users via the host application's web interface. Our client had designed a Proof of Concept and required a Systems Architect to validate the approach to ensure that it met the above goal.

Aptus supplied an experienced Documentum Consultant to carry out the POC review. Our consultant found a number of shortcomings in the design, which he removed by re-designing the solution to be more robust, scaleable and more “loosely coupled” thereby removing constraints on future upgrades. He also provided performance analysis and assisted with migration of legacy content into the new system.

Aptus prevented the customer from embarking on a development programme that would have produced a flawed solution. The revised design was less restrictive and much more resilient than the original.
